Basketball Recap: South Anchorage Takes a Loss

If South Anchorage was feeling good fresh off their 64-39 takedown of Eagle River last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Anchorage Wolverines fell to the West Anchorage Eagles 56-51. The Wolverines have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

South Anchorage's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for West Anchorage, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Anchorage won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chugiak at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chugiak knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully South Anchorage likes a good challenge. As for West Anchorage, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles challenge the Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bettye Davis East Anchorage will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something West Anchorage surely won't give up without a fight.
