Recap: Trinity Shamrocks vs. East Pennsboro Panthers
Even though the East Pennsboro Panthers scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Trinity Shamrocks still came out on top. Trinity took their contest against East Pennsboro 66-59. Given Trinity's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while East Pennsboro is ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Owen Schlager was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Amir Evans was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Trinity's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for East Pennsboro, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.
Trinity will finish 2023 at home by hosting Berks Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Berks Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. East Pennsboro will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Camp Hill at 1:15 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
