Basketball Game Preview: Arundel Wildcats vs. Broadneck Bruins

Arundel is 2-8 against Broadneck since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Arundel Wildcats will take on the Broadneck Bruins at 6:45 p.m. One thing working in Arundel's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

Arundel is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Chesapeake, posting a 106-48 victory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Cougars are ranked 276th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Javeon Reed continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 17 en route to 17 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Ellis Johnson was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Arundel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Broadneck entered their tilt with Annapolis on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They managed a 68-64 win over the Panthers.

Arundel's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Broadneck, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Arundel didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Broadneck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 71-65 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arundel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
