Basketball Recap: Harrison Central Piles Up the Points Against Brooke

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harrison Central). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Brooke Bruins 67-31. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 22 points or more this season.

Harrison Central was led to victory by Maddie Sedgmer and Mikayla Pelegreen. Sedgmer posted 29 points and eight rebounds, while Pelegreen dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Pelegreen is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Kara Blackburn, who put up five points and five steals.

Harrison Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Brooke, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison Central and Buckeye Local will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Harrison Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brooke, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Marion at 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
