Baseball Game Preview: Golden Demons vs. Pueblo East Eagles

The Golden Demons will head out to take on the Pueblo East Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Pueblo East's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Golden and Denver North, and Denver North kept the tradition alive. The Demons fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Austin Maleki was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Golden saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luca Casali, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Jaydon Stroup also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Pueblo East's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 7-4 to Discovery Canyon.

Golden's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Pueblo East, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Golden has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pueblo East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Golden took their win against Pueblo East when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
