Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Cardinals vs. Gilman City Hawks

Mercer and Gilman City are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but not for long. After both having extra time off, both will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Mercer turned things around against Cainsville last Friday. They took down the Redmen 47-33.

Meanwhile, Gilman City strolled past North Harrison with points to spare last Thursday, taking the game 74-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Gilman City is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points per game. As for Mercer, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Mercer was able to grind out a solid win over Gilman City in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 73-61. Does Mercer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gilman City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
