Softball Recap: Wahlert Extends Winning Streak to Five

Wahlert won against Jefferson on Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Liberty Lightning 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Wahlert's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wahlert will challenge Linn-Mar at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cedar Falls at 5:00 p.m. on July 1.
