Softball Recap: Hug Comes Up Short

Hug is still winless after their match against South Tahoe on Wednesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vikings. Even if the Hawks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Aubrie Sacauskas led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daisy Torres, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Hug always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Tahoe only posted an OBP of .364.

Hug's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for South Tahoe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-7.

Hug has already played their next game, a 19-4 victory against Wooster on the 22nd. As for South Tahoe, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against North Valleys on the 22nd.
