Softball Recap: Brewbaker Tech Takes a Loss

Brewbaker Tech was the 7-2 winner over Opelika when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Brewbaker Tech lost 14-8 to Opelika on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly six runs.

Kaymarria Bandy and Kyra Wallace did some serious damage despite the final result: Bandy went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Wallace scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Bandy a new career-high. Jalia Griffin also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Brewbaker Tech has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. The victory was the sixth in a row for Opelika, bringing their record up to 12-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brewbaker Tech will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Saint James at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Opelika, they will welcome Russell County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Opelika is facing Russell County at the right time seeing as Russell County is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
