Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Has No Trouble Against Angola

With a playoff win on the line, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger rose to the challenge on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Angola Hornets. Considering the Saints have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Avianna Vasquez tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maeve Miltner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Angola, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

As of now, neither Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
