Baseball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Has No Trouble Against Leadership Prep

UME Preparatory Academy won the last time they faced Leadership Prep and things went their way on Monday too. The EAGLES put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 16-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the EAGLES.

Austin Dennis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for UME Preparatory Academy: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-22-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kaden Phelps was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Thapa, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.

UME Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leadership Prep only posted an OBP of .214.

UME Preparatory Academy's record now sits at 9-23-1. As for Leadership Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, UME Preparatory Academy will take on Trinity Leadership at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The EAGLES are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Leadership Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
