Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Mountain Lions vs. Basic Wolves

The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions will venture away from home to take on the Basic Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Sierra Vista's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

Last Thursday, Sierra Vista took their match with ease, bagging an 83-54 win over Somerset Sky Pointe. With the Mountain Lions ahead 51-23 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Basic waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 62-53 victory over the Bengals.

Sierra Vista better focus on containing Kelani Stafford and Kenny Williams as the pair were huge in Basic's win. Stafford dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards, while Williams posted 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Stafford a new career-high in assists (five). Saolotoga Jefferson was another key player, putting up five points.

Basic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Sierra Vista, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Sierra Vista strolled past Basic when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 68-51. Will Sierra Vista repeat their success, or does Basic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
