Basketball Recap: Navajo Pine Victorious

Navajo Pine's tournament run continued when they took on Socorro on Saturday. Navajo Pine walked away with a 47-34 victory over Socorro. The win made it back-to-back victories for Navajo Pine.

Among those leading the charge was Kylea Jumbo, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Those 15 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Baker, who posted five points and 12 rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Navajo Pine was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Socorro only posted six.

When it comes to explaining why Socorro lost, don't look at Tatjana Castillo. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with six boards and three steals. Castillo continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Navajo Pine now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Socorro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Navajo Pine will welcome Tse' Yi' Gai at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Socorro, they will be playing at home against Belen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
