Football Recap: Smoky Hill Buffaloes vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

Smoky Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 54-14 defeat at the hands of the Eaglecrest Raptors. One positive for the Buffaloes, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Although Smoky Hill took the loss, they still got scores from Flynn Latta and Trent Littlejohn.

Joe Steiner was his usual excellent self, throwing for 296 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 72 yards and two touchdowns for Eaglecrest. Another player making a difference was Clyde Surrell IV, who gained 127 total yards and a touchdown.

Smoky Hill's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Eaglecrest, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smoky Hill will face off against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eaglecrest, they will square off against Cherokee Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Eaglecrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29.7 points per game this season.
