Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Wildcats vs. Pike Central Chargers        
        
		
             Mt. Vernon was the  3-1 winner over Pike Central when they last played one another  back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mt. Vernon Wildcats took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pike Central Chargers on Saturday. The Wildcats' defeat continues a  trend for the  team, making it three in a row.
 Mt. Vernon came into the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. After all that action, the final score was 22-25, 25-18, 25-12,  25-20.
 Despite the loss, Mt. Vernon still got an impressive performance from   Hannah McNeece, who  had 34  digs. McNeece is  on a roll when it comes to  digs, as she's  now  had 14 or more in the last ten games she's  played dating back to last season.  Maiya Jones was another key player,  getting eight  digs and ten  assists.
 Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Pike Central, their win  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 2-5.
 Coincidentally,  the two teams will both be playing Tell City the next time they take the court. Pike Central will  host Tell City at 9:00  a.m.  on Saturday, while Mt. Vernon will play them later in the day, at 9:00  a.m.
