Harlingen came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Weslaco Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 66-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-53 last Saturday.

Defeat or not, Weslaco got some senior leadership from Pete Cantu and Jeremiah Castillo. Cantu went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds, while Castillo posted 13 points. JD Martinez was another key player, putting up ten points.

Harlingen's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Weslaco, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Harlingen Cardinals face off against the Edinburg North Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Weslaco, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McAllen at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
