Softball Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

Marshfield extended their losing streak to ten on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-13 in the process. They lost 18-8 to the Marist Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-6 defeat on Friday.

As for Marist, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-8. Considering they have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Marist's part, they got a massive performance out of Lera Basom, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Basom a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Witt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Marshfield will host Glide at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Marist, they will venture away from home to challenge Stayton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
