Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Red Raiders vs. Athens Golden Eagles + Official Tickets

The Decatur Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Athens Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Decatur didn't have too much trouble with Columbia as they won 57-39. Given the Red Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Eagles are ranked 178th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Athens came up short against Buckhorn on Tuesday and fell 41-29. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Decatur, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Everything came up roses for Decatur against Athens in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 53-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
