Basketball Game Preview: St. Agnes Academy Stars vs. Hutchison Sting

St. Agnes Academy hasn't had much luck against Hutchison recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The St. Agnes Academy Stars will venture away from home to square off against the Hutchison Sting at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Agnes Academy comes in on three and Hutchison on four.

On Monday, St. Agnes Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lakeland Preparatory, but they still walked away with a 40-36 victory.

Meanwhile, Hutchison didn't have too much trouble with Center Hill on Saturday as they won 65-46. Given the Sting's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 25th in Tennessee, while the Mustangs are ranked 125th in Mississippi), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hutchison pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for St. Agnes Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

St. Agnes Academy might still be hurting after the 63-41 defeat they got from Hutchison in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can St. Agnes Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
