Spring River Valley recap September 10, 2013

Jasper's Jordan Rice rumbled for the longest rushing play in Spring River Valley this season in his game against McAuley Catholic last week. Rice's team beat the Warriors as he sprinted for 60 yards on the play and finished with 151 in all.

Greenfield was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from ninth to fifth in the league. The Wildcats vanquished Pierce City 19-7 earlier in the week.

Brodie Bien put up the best numbers in passing as Diamond fell to Sarcoxie. He finished with a total of 17 completions for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bien's favorite target this week was Tanner Paradies, who caught 4 passes for 59 yards.

Rice was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Payton Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 124 yards.

He went 17-31 with 2 interceptions.

Colton Sweeney was the best wideout in Spring River Valley this week as Jasper topped McAuley Catholic.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Greenfield's Hunter Montez and Anthony Schwindler have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Montez has thrown for 294 yards this season, while Schwindler has 8 catches for 143 yards. Logan Johnston from Richie Adkins' team leads the league in rushing with 229 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sarcoxie takes on second place Lockwood.

The Eagles' offense has racked up 79 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Aaron O'Laughlin's team has allowed only 35 on the year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Wildcats take on Jasper. Greenfield has allowed 35 points this season, while the Eagles have given up 35. The Wildcats allowed 7 points last week as they bested the Eagles.

Chuck Williams' team lost to Jasper 59-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
