New Smyrna Beach proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the DeLand Bulldogs 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Barracudas have posted since February 27th.

Jayden Calamonico spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, New Smyrna Beach's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Brock, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

New Smyrna Beach's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for DeLand, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

New Smyrna Beach has already played their next game, an 8-6 loss against Spruce Creek on the 2nd. As for DeLand, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-8 victory against Flagler Palm Coast on the 2nd.
