Basketball Recap: Lab University Prep Varsity Takes a Loss

If Lab University Prep Varsity was feeling good fresh off their 59-39 takedown of Carolina Baptist Academy on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lab University Prep Varsity Kings took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots on Saturday.

Despite the defeat, Lab University Prep Varsity saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Moses Springer went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Springer's morning made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Dylan Butcher was his usual excellent self, putting up 25 points for Surry HomeSchool. The dominant performance gave Butcher a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Heath Clark, who posted ten points.

Lab University Prep Varsity's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Surry HomeSchool, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

Lab University Prep Varsity will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Non Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Surry HomeSchool, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-54 loss against South Guilford HomeSchool on the 21st.
