Baseball Recap: Sharon Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Sharon extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping them up to 5-2. They blew past the Franklin Knights 12-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Ethan Engelmore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Sharon is undefeated when Engelmore posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Sharon let Coen Fertig and Marko Zajac run wild. Fertig went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Zajac went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Fertig a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Parker, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Sharon: they've now lost seven in a row.

On Franklin's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Fezell, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Sharon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-4 victory against Grove City on the 13th. As for Franklin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-10 win against Iroquois on the 10th.
