The Washburn Rural Blues will head out on the road to face off against the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washburn Rural comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Washburn Rural's 15-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawrence Free State on Friday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Draden Chooncharoen, who scored ten points. John Hoytal was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, even though Olathe North scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Shawnee Mission Northwest still came out on top. Shawnee Mission Northwest walked away with a 75-68 victory over Olathe North. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Shawnee Mission Northwest.
Washburn Rural's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Washburn Rural came up short against Shawnee Mission Northwest in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 58-51. Can Washburn Rural avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
