Softball Recap: W.S. Neal Sets Scoring Season-High Against Escambia County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask W.S. Neal). They put the hurt on the Escambia County Blue Devils with a sharp 19-4 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Dashya Montgomery made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs but no hits. Montgomery was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, W.S. Neal let Ava Stuckey and Ajada Thompson run wild. Stuckey scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Thompson scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Thompson a new career-high. Paisley Royce was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

W.S. Neal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .903. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped W.S. Neal's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-15 record. As for Escambia County, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, W.S. Neal will welcome Hillcrest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Escambia County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
