Softball Game Preview: Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders vs. Southport Cardinals

The Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders will challenge the Southport Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They won by a run and slipped past Christel House 21-20.

Addie Galbreath was incredible, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Harpar Finke was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Southport didn't have quite enough to beat Columbus East on Friday and fell 7-6.

Ady Stansbury put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Stansbury was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Natalie Vaeth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Vaught, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.

Southport now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Southport when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
