Softball Recap: Mitchell Kernels vs. Brandon Valley Lynx

Mitchell had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it nine. They came up short against the Brandon Valley Lynx, falling 18-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Kernels of the 13-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Mitchell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Miedema, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Miedema's first of the season.

As for Brandon Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Brandon Valley's side, Peyton Amdahl was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Amdahl is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Fitts, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
