Volleyball Recap: Moapa Valley Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Cristo Rey St. Viator on Monday, Moapa Valley came back down to earth. The Pirates took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boulder City Eagles on Wednesday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 25-13.

Lily Cox paced Moapa Valley's offense, picking up nine kills. Cox got some help from Phoebe Leavitt and her 27 assists.

Boulder City was led to victory by Mya Avila and Laylani Gubler. Avila had 18 digs and 11 kills, while Gubler had eight digs, six kills, and three aces. Those 11 kills gave Avila a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Battistone, who had six digs, five kills, and three aces.

Moapa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Boulder City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season.

Moapa Valley will take on Sierra Vista in a tournament on Friday. As for Boulder City, they will host Virgin Valley at 6:00 p.m. on September 4.
