Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drake (DJ) Sandi, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 21 points and eight assists. What's more, Sandi also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February. Another player making a difference was Clarence Westbrook Jr., who shot 56% from the field en route to 20 points and six boards.
St. Thomas Aquinas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.
The home team had come away the winner the last three times Corner Canyon and Herriman had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Chargers took down the Mustangs 65-48 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Chargers have beaten the Mustangs on their court since February 6, 2024.
Corner Canyon's win came from a few key players St. Thomas Aquinas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ty Kozlowski, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Tyler Mortensen was another key player, going 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points.
St. Thomas Aquinas' record now sits at 8-1. As for Corner Canyon, their record is now 6-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. Thomas Aquinas has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Corner Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 rebounds.
