Despite the defeat, Island Coast saw an underclassman step up: Samarrah Desir scored 12 points. That was a full 41.4% of Island Coast's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Maia Berdebes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ida Baker, dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 steals. Alexandra Reuss was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Island Coast has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Ida Baker, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Island Coast will square off against East Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ida Baker, they will head out on the road to challenge Canterbury at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Canterbury is ranked 225th, while Ida Baker is ranked 248th).
