Soccer Game Preview: Orland vs. West Valley

The Orland Trojans will take on the West Valley Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Orland will be strutting in after a win while West Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Orland took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Willows by a score of 3-1. That two goal margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

Sergio Flores and Edgar Mojica scored all three of Orland's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when West Valley took on Las Plumas on Tuesday. West Valley came up short against Las Plumas, falling 11-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 992nd, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 38th).

Orland now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for West Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Orland took their victory against West Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a conclusive 4-0. Will Orland repeat their success, or does West Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
