Softball Recap: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. Del Norte Nighthawks
It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Mission Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Del Norte Nighthawks 5-4. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 win the Nighthawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.
Oloa Motas made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Addison Russell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Lillian Sengsouly was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
Mission Hills now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Del Norte, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission Hills will take on Poway at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Del Norte, they will square off against San Marcos at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
