Softball Recap: Sheboygan South Takes a Loss

Sheboygan South extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 35 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They came up short against the De Pere Redbirds, falling 18-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Tuesday.

As for De Pere, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

For De Pere's part, Addison Krutz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Krutz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, De Pere got a massive performance out of Cadence Brennan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Brennan a new career-high. Julianne Bradford was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheboygan South will take on Racine Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for De Pere, they will challenge Green Bay Southwest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redbirds are facing the Fighting Trojans at the right time seeing as the Fighting Trojans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
