Softball Recap: West Jordan Has No Trouble Against Tooele

West Jordan got themselves on the board against Tooele on Friday, but Tooele never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Buffaloes. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Rita Tavita made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Tavita was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Fjeldsted, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lafiana Fifita, who scored a run and stole three bases.

West Jordan is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Tooele, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Coming up, West Jordan will challenge Cyprus at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tooele, they will face off against Jordan at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Buffaloes are facing the Beetdiggers at the right time seeing as the Beetdiggers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
