Softball Game Preview: Oxford Chargers vs. Southaven Chargers

Oxford will face off against Southaven at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southaven took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oxford, who comes in off a win.

Oxford hadn't beaten Senatobia on the road since March 11, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. Oxford walked away with a 5-2 victory over Senatobia.

The team relied heavily on Jayla Dukes, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Jacei Clark was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Southaven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Hernando, falling 14-0.

Oxford's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Southaven, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Oxford's way against Southaven in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Oxford made off with a 9-1 victory. Will Oxford repeat their success, or does Southaven have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
