Basketball Game Preview: Mullins Auctioneers vs. Berkeley Stags

The Mullins Auctioneers and the Berkeley Stags will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mullins knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Berkeley likes a good challenge.

Mullins is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 76-58 win over Lake City on Thursday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Auctioneers with their most commanding win of the season.

Mullins' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dakarai Worley, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 11 boards, and Deyon Ford, who almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine assists. Ford's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ken 'KJ' Ford, Jr., who posted eight points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Mullins was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Berkeley took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 67-35 victory over Timberland. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 30 points or more this season.

Mullins' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points over those games. As for Berkeley, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
