Baseball Game Preview: Lathrop Malemutes vs. South Anchorage Wolverines

Lathrop hasn't had much luck against South Anchorage recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Malemutes will head out to challenge the Wolverines at 11:45 a.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Malemutes fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They had just enough and edged out Bettye Davis East Anchorage 8-6.

Meanwhile, South Anchorage strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Dimond.

South Anchorage got a great performance from David Feigner as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Feigner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, South Anchorage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Zuspan, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Lathrop suffered a grim 14-8 defeat to South Anchorage in their previous meeting back in June of 2017. Can the Malemutes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
