Basketball Recap: Flint River Academy Comes Up Short

If Flint River Academy was feeling good fresh off their 51-13 takedown of St. Mary's Academy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the Strong Rock Christian Patriots on Monday, falling 46-21. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Flint River Academy still got an impressive performance from Reagan Riner, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Riner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. McKinley Waddell was another key player, putting up two points and eight boards.

Strong Rock Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Norsworthy out in front who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Rachau, who put up six points along with eight boards and five steals.

Flint River Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Strong Rock Christian, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Flint River Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-21 loss against Windsor Academy on the 9th. As for Strong Rock Christian, they will take on Mount de Sales Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers' defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them.
