Basketball Game Preview: Charlevoix Rayders vs. Elk Rapids Elks

Charlevoix hasn't had much luck against Elk Rapids recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Charlevoix Rayders will head out on the road to challenge the Elk Rapids Elks at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Charlevoix is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 64-54 win over Cheboygan on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rayders.

Meanwhile, Elk Rapids earned a 51-44 victory over Boyne City on Friday. Given the Elks' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Ramblers are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elk Rapids pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Charlevoix, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Charlevoix ended up a good deal behind Elk Rapids in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 62-46. Can Charlevoix avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
