Baseball Recap: Kai Irlmeier Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sahuaro

Buena had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sahuaro Cougars a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Colts have posted since March 27, 2024.

Branden Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kai Irlmeier, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Aidan Barrett was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
