Ligonier Valley had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-7  on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-8  victory over the Yough Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  8-7  on Tuesday.
Ligonier Valley got a big performance out of  Jacob Petalino, who  went 3-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. That's the most  RBI  Petalino has posted since back in April of 2024.  Rocco Harris was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ligonier Valley  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. That's a new  trend for them: they were averaging 4.1  hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.
As for Yough,  they are  on  a  15-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by  just one  run.
 On Yough's side,  John S was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with two  runs and one  RBI.  Tyler B also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
 Coming up, Ligonier Valley will take on Southmoreland at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. The timing is sure in the Rams' favor as the  team sits on three straight wins at home while the Scotties have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. As for Yough, they will face off against Freeport at 4:15  p.m.  on Monday. The Yellowjackets will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
