Football Recap: Hamden Hall Country Day Starts Season with Loss at Home

Hamden Hall Country Day unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns 42-12 on Friday. The Hornets were down 35-6 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Hamden Hall Country Day's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Austin Burgouin, who rushed for 148 yards on only 12 carries, and Austin McWeeney, who rushed for 78 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

Justin Morle was a one-man wrecking crew For Kingswood Oxford. as he rushed for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. Morle's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 103 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Isley Biggins, who rushed for 77 yards and two scores.
