Volleyball Recap: Pioneer Panthers vs. Triton Trojans

After flying high against Winamac last Thursday, Pioneer came back down to earth. The Pioneer Panthers fell just short of the Triton Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-22 in the first set.

Pioneer took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-20, 15-9.

Even though they lost, Pioneer was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive games.

Triton was led to victory by Allie Westafer and Clara Doll. Westafer had 13 digs, four aces, three kills, and three blocks, while Doll had 13 digs, two kills, and a block. That's the most aces Westafer has posted in her last nine matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Hawley, who had 21 digs.

Pioneer's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-11. As for Triton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
