Baseball Recap: Paradise Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Paradise put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pilot Point Bearcats a 10-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Paradise got a great performance from Braden Wilson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Wilson has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Carter Mara was a standout: he scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Leland Mattern was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Paradise was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Paradise is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Pilot Point, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Paradise will face off against rival Callisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.8, the Wildcats 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pilot Point is set to take on their familiar foe Boyd at 7:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
