Softball Recap: Delran Has No Trouble Against Westampton Tech

Delran won the last time they faced Westampton Tech and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bears blew past the Panthers 8-2. Considering the Bears have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Olivia Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Delran let Ellie Haskell and Elaina Faux run wild. Haskell scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Faux went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Gianna Spinelli was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Delran's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Westampton Tech, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

When Delran and Westampton Tech next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Bears will try to stop Maple Shade's four-game winning streak when they meet at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Delran 3.2, the Wildcats 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Westampton Tech will square off against New Egypt and their three-game winning streak at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
