Softball Preview: Duluth Wildcats vs. Roswell Hornets
The Duluth Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Roswell Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Duluth lost 12-4 to Lanier on Tuesday.
Kaylie Zirger put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Zirger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and a double.
Zirger wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Saniya Simmons, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Duluth didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lanier only tossed three.
Meanwhile, Roswell owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Centennial with a sharp 8-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.
Duluth's record now sits at 1-1. As for Roswell, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
