Basketball Recap: Aubriana Haugh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Perry Meridian over Indianapolis Bishop Chatard

Perry Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They came up short against the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans, falling 48-27. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Trojans are ranked 60th).

Perry Meridian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubriana Haugh, who posted eight points. Ella Cross also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Anna Caskey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 24 rebounds. Those 29 points gave Caskey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Berzai, who earned two points.

Perry Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Perry Meridian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 41-28 defeat against Martinsville on the 24th. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard has also already played their next contest, a 66-59 loss against Tri-West Hendricks on the 28th.
