Basketball Game Preview: Fairview Eagles vs. West Carter Comets

Fairview is 2-8 against West Carter since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will square off against the Comets at 7:30 p.m. Fairview has given up an average of 74.8 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Fairview took a blow against Tolsia, falling 72-39. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 264th in Kentucky, while the Rebels are ranked 118th in West Virginia).

Meanwhile, West Carter waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Musketeers 57-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Comets have posted since January 2, 2025.

Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for West Carter, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Fairview was taken down by West Carter 69-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2025. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 55-21.
