Baseball Game Preview: Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers vs. Van Nuys Wolves

The Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers will head out on the road to take on the Van Nuys Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' offense. They lost 8-0 to Van Nuys on Wednesday. The Vipers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Van Nuys' part, Joel Enciso was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Enciso has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Van Nuys let Nate Renard and Enzo Enciso run wild. Renard scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Enciso scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Renard a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Alejandro Diaz, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Van Nuys kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Van Nuys, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
