Basketball Recap: Costa Mesa Comes Up Short

Costa Mesa and Calvary Baptist squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Costa Mesa had to settle for second. They lost 79-53 to the Calvary Baptist Cougars. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Costa Mesa still got an impressive performance from Parker Hylton, who went 7-for-15 on his way to 21 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Ternandez Calloway Jr., who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Costa Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 10-18. As for Calvary Baptist, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-8.

Costa Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calvary Baptist, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars duke it out with the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Elsinore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matches -- so hopefully Calvary Baptist likes a good challenge.
